Our Beechwood property is not connected to sewer. What does that change?
It changes almost everything about how the drainage is designed and maintained. Everything leaving the house has to be treated on site, so what goes down the drain matters far more, the system needs periodic attention rather than being invisible, and any plumbing fault upstream shows up as a system problem downstream.
Our pressure pump keeps cycling on and off. What causes that?
Rapid cycling, meaning the pump kicks in every few seconds with no tap running, almost always indicates a leak somewhere in the line, a failed non return valve, or a waterlogged pressure vessel. It is worth acting on quickly. A cycling pump burns out, and if it is a leak you are losing tank water you cannot easily replace. We can isolate which of the three it is fairly quickly.
What is the best way to keep our rainwater supply clean?
Fit and maintain a first flush diverter, screen the tank inlet and overflow against mosquitoes and vermin, keep leaf guards clear, and trim overhanging branches back from the catchment. If the water has gone off taste or discoloured, the cause is almost always something entering the tank rather than a problem inside it.
Do you do plumbing for sheds, granny flats and second dwellings on acreage?
Yes. Servicing an outbuilding on a rural block means running supply and waste lines a fair distance, working out how it ties into the existing tank, pump and wastewater arrangement, and getting the drainage falls right over a long run. We handle the plumbing and the LPG gas connection as one job.
Does bushfire risk affect our plumbing setup?
It can. On a bushfire prone rural block it is worth knowing whether your tank has a dedicated firefighting reserve and a fitting the RFS can actually connect to, whether your pump will run without mains power, and whether exposed poly pipework is protected.
We are at the end of a long supply line and pressure is poor. Can that be fixed?
Usually. Poor pressure on acreage comes from a combination of distance, elevation change, and pipe that is undersized for the run. We measure the actual pressure and flow at the point of use, then recommend the right fix, which might be a pump upgrade, a pressure vessel, or upsizing the section of line that is doing the damage. Guessing at pump size is how people end up with an expensive pump and the same problem.
Our water has started to smell or taste different. Where do we start?
On a tank supply, changes in taste, smell or colour usually trace back to something entering the tank, a filtration cartridge past its life, or sediment being stirred up as the level drops. Occasionally it is the plumbing itself, such as an old galvanised section corroding. We can work through it methodically rather than you replacing filters and hoping.
How far out is Beechwood for you, and do you charge extra travel?
Beechwood is a short run past Wauchope on the Oxley Highway, so it is well within our normal service area rather than a special trip.
